Position at Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc.
The Sumitomo Global Production Planner, located at Kentucky Customer Service Center in Lexington, KY, will work primarily on customer prototype development events. Responsible for prototype sample procurements, meeting event schedules, communicating with our plants both overseas and Mexico.This position will work closely with other SEWS departments. They will identify supply issues/delays that will impact the customer and openly communicate those challenges to other departments such as Delivery, Quality Assurance, Project Management, Material Control, LPD, etc.
Some night meetings will occur on a project basis with overseas design, project management groups (Japanese language will be required during those meetings).
RESPONSIBILITES:
Main Duties are to work in PC Developing team for new model events. This includes not only prototype sample order to our factory, but also delivery schedule adjustment, shipping arrangements and design/specification confirmation, etc.
This position also responsible to maintain and update/enter customer forecast data into our systems. Some night meetings will occur as needed basis with overseas factories to communicate various issues arise.
Coordinate with internal departments (Project Management, Delivery, QA, Warehouse Operations) to communicate new/past model parts, design level changes, update the internal tracking documentation.
Update BCP production plan weekly to support our Bridge Production. Upload ASN whenever GPP ship prototype samples.
Work with other Planners and Managers to help create/facilitate any group kaizen items that will benefit the team and SEWS.
Some night meetings are required.This is as needed and is to communicate issues as they arise with overseas factories.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree along with 1-3 years experience in procurement, or related experience preferred
Experience working in a Japanese company (in Japan or the US) preferred
Microsoft Office Suite (to include Excel, Access) skills required
Math application skills required
Excellent oral and written communication skills required
Speaking other language such as Japanese, Spanish, Vietnamese are great asset. (oral/written)
