Job Title: Landscaping Architect - Operations Manager

Location: Des Moines, IA

Job Type: Salary Position, 5 years minimum related experience. health coverage, IRA with a 3% match, Negotiable PTO, Company Vehicle after contract. 

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Landscaping Operations Manager with at least 5 years or more experience to oversee our landscaping and snow removal operations. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing our entire crew, from daily tasks to strategic planning, ensuring top-quality service year-round. During the warmer months, you'll focus on landscaping services such as bed weeding, spraying, mowing, and re-mulching. When winter arrives, you'll pivot to manage snow removal and storm clean-up operations. 

Skilled in plan development, relationship building, customer complaints, safety standards, bi-lingual is a plus and overseeing 35-40 employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Crew Management: Supervise and direct field crews, ensuring high standards of work, productivity, and safety. Oversee daily assignments, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Team Development: Play a vital role in hiring, onboarding, training, and supporting staff to foster a skilled and motivated team.
  • Software Proficiency: Use industry-specific software like Aspire (or similar platforms) to manage operations, scheduling, and client accounts. Quickly learn and teach new tools and systems.
  • Budget & Resource Allocation: Plan and structure crews efficiently while managing resources and adhering to budget constraints.
  • Operational Excellence: Implement and uphold best practices across all landscaping and snow removal services to maintain quality and safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in operations management within the landscaping and/or snow removal industry.
  • Proficiency with industry-specific software such as Aspire or a demonstrated ability to quickly learn and teach new platforms.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets, allocate resources effectively, and optimize crew productivity.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean criminal record.
  • A proactive, safety-conscious mindset with a commitment to excellence.

Additional Tasks:

* Confer with clients, engineering personnel, or architects on landscape projects.

* Inspect landscape work to ensure compliance with specifications, evaluate quality of materials or work, or advise clients or construction personnel.

* Analyze data on conditions such as site location, drainage, or structure location for environmental reports or landscaping plans.

* Prepare site plans, specifications, or cost estimates for land development.

* Develop planting plans to help clients garden productively or to achieve particular aesthetic effects.

* Collaborate with estimators to cost projects, create project plans, or coordinate bids from landscaping contractors.

* Inspect proposed sites to identify structural elements of land areas or other important site information, such as soil condition, existing landscaping, or the proximity of water management facilities.

* Research latest products, technology, or design trends to stay current in the field.

* Identify and select appropriate sustainable materials for use in landscape designs, such as recycled wood or recycled concrete boards for structural elements or recycled tires for playground bedding.
